Dwarf apple trees are more suited to the home landscape than standard size apple trees (standard apple trees are made by grafting a cultivar scion onto a seedling rootstock which has no dwarfing effect).

Dwarf trees are easier to spray and harvest from.  An added bonus is that dwarf trees bear full size fruit at an early age.
