Overview: An overview of enzymes and pathways involved in plant intermediary metabolism, plant cell function, and plant development. Topics include proteins and enzymology, plant bioenergetics, respiration, photosynthesis, nitrogen metabolism, nitrogen fixation, lipid metabolism and membranes, plant secondary products, plant gene expression, and plant biotechnology.

Grading:
5 Quizzes @ 40 pts./quiz = 200 points
1 Comprehensive Final Exam= 100 points

TOTAL POINTS = 300 POINTS
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given at regular intervals throughout the semester. These quizzes will require about 30 to 45 minutes to complete and will consist of short answer, matching and essay questions. The quizzes will be given at the beginning of the class meeting and quiz dates are indicated on the list of topics to be covered. Although 6 quizes will be given, only 5 will be counted towards the final grade. The lowest quiz score will be dropped. Each quiz will only cover a single module section of the course as shown in the course topic list.
Final Examination: A final examination will be given on April 24th which is the last day of the course. The final examination will be comprehensive and will cover all topics presented in the course.

The documents are PDF files which can be opening on any computer. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open, view and print out the files. This may already be on your computer or you can download a copy of the software free from the Adobe Software Site which you can access from the following link (http://www.adobe.com). Please print out and bring a copy of the relevant lecture outline to class.
